Today, I made a Red Velvet cake according to Mama Dip's classic recipe, but instead of going with the white trash classic, I decided to posh it up a bit by using strictly beetroot for colouring and no NO artificial food colourings! Sadly, it turned out rather mauve instead of the deep red that is the pinnacle of the redneck culinary experience. I think I'll still use red food colouring in the future, but at least the mauve cake tastes lovely. I'll ice it tomorrow with my patented lazy-ass blend of light cream cheese + icing sugar.
Tomorrow, I'll be making a batch of snickerdoodles and not doing much else at all.
